- Select the type of wax that you are going to use. If bees wax is used, then melting is not recommended. Just wrap it around a wick and then seal it using your thumb. And if you will use soy wax or paraffin, it has to be melted and double boiled.
- Next, place the wax melter in a pot half-filled with water that should be kept on a burner with a low-medium heat only. Once the wax melts, add dyes or fragrances as your option. You can even put glitters to make a decorative candle. Nevertheless, a tablespoon or one fourth of an ounce or three percent of the candles weight of oil for each pound of wax melted. Or else, the candle will not burn properly.
- Calculate the temperature of the wax with the help of the thermometer. If you have selected a mold of cardboard, plastic or glass, keep the temperature at one hundred thirty degrees Fahrenheit only and if the mold is made of some metal, then, you could probably heat up the wax up to 190 degrees Fahrenheit.
- You can start to prepare the mold while the wax is in the process of melting. You can do it by keeping the length of the wick two inches more than the candle. Pass the wick through the hole at the bottom of the mold and fix it with the use of putty. Tie the wick at the other end of the mold with something like a pencil or even stick.
- Lastly, pour the wax into the mold and let the wax cool for at least twelve hours. For better results, refrigerate it for another twelve hours and then remove it from the mold. And the candle is ready to light up.
